Irish Coffee - The Whiskey-infused Warm Hug You Never Knew You Needed
How one Irishman turned a cold, miserable night into the most comforting (and boozy) coffee experience of all time.

St. Paddy’s Day isn’t just about green beer and questionable dance moves—it’s also the perfect excuse to spike your coffee with a little Irish magic! Whether you’re keeping it classy with a Classic Irish Coffee, getting fancy with a Cold Brew Irish Martini, or indulging in the creamy, nutty goodness of a Nutty Irishman, these are just three of many deliciously boozy, coffee-fueled Irish cocktails to enjoy.
And guess what? We’re here for all the happy coffee. So grab your favorite mug (or martini glass), embrace the luck of the Irish, and sip your way into St. Patrick’s Day the proper way—caffeinated and a little tipsy.
1. Classic Irish Coffee
The OG coffee cocktail—simple, elegant, and perfect for sipping on a chilly evening.
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Irish whiskey (Jameson or Bushmills work well)
1 tsp brown sugar (or more to taste)
6 oz freshly brewed hot coffee
Heavy cream (lightly whipped)
Instructions:
Preheat a glass mug by filling it with hot water; dump water out.
Add brown sugar and whiskey, then pour in the hot coffee. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Gently float the whipped cream on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Do NOT stir—sip through the cream for the ultimate experience.
2. Cold Brew Irish Martini
A sleek, caffeinated twist on a classic martini—perfect for after-dinner vibes.
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Irish whiskey
1 oz cold brew coffee
¾ oz coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Mr Black)
½ oz simple syrup
Ice
Coffee beans for garnish
Instructions:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add whiskey, cold brew, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup.
Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until chilled.
Strain into a coupe or martini glass.
Garnish with 3 coffee beans for a touch of Italian luck (yes, mixing cultures—but who’s counting?).
3. Nutty Irishman Coffee
A creamy, nutty coffee cocktail that's dangerously easy to drink.
Ingredients:
1 oz Irish cream (Baileys)
1 oz hazelnut liqueur (Frangelico)
6 oz hot coffee
Whipped cream
Crushed hazelnuts (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Pour Irish cream and hazelnut liqueur into a mug.
Top with hot coffee and stir gently.
Crown with a generous dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed hazelnuts.
Sip, relax, and enjoy the creamy, nutty goodness.
